From user perspective there are no differences between vSMP and SMP systems, both have the same advantages (eg. shared memory). With network virtualization (Infiniband) virtual machine has very high efficiency, comparable to its equivalent of physical machine, while offering much greater flexibility in resources management.
In Cyfronet the vSMP system is currently installed on Zeus vSMP cluster.
